Shopping and Sightseeing Trip to Germany

Michelle and I took a drive to Trier, Germany this past Saturday. We've been told there is really good shopping in Trier and a whole lot less expensive than the shops here in Luxembourg. Trier is the oldest city in Germany founded in 16 BC.

There are lots of sights that we certainly did not see. However, we did get to tour the Trier Cathedral which was built around 400 AD. It is absolutely massive on the inside. Here's what it looks like from the outside:

We walked through the city and admired many of the hundreds of shops. For the crafty ladies, Michelle took notes and pictures of a couple of knitting shops. I'm glad you get to go back there with her.

After we had had enough shopping, we took a chance and drove to Cochem, Germany. It took us about an hour to get there but it was definitely worth it. Mom, when we go, you might want to bring a whole suitcase of Dramimine because you'll probably need it.

Cochem, Germany is located in the Moselle Valley and situated around a river. Since we were there in February, it was a little early for tourist season. This has to be a great place to visit in the summertime. Check out a few of the pictures.

The main attraction is the Reichsburg Castle which sits high above the city. On another visit, we'll take a tour of the castle.

We never expected to find such a charming city but it was well worth the drive.
